Introduction:
Old drivers may cause a range of problems, from diminished hardware functionality to conflicts and system crashes. Although drivers are available for free and can be updated manually, identifying outdated drivers can take a long time. Moreover, pinpointing just the right driver from the manufacturer's website, downloading and installing it can be laborious and technically risky.
The solution:
Built with simplicity in mind, DriverScanner scans your computer to provide a list of drivers that need to be updated. With single click convenience, DriverScanner will then safely install each update on your PC. DriverScanner by Uniblue software is a PC driver updater application that can scan for device drivers. They offer a free scan, which is a nice feature. It's also compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. This...
software provides comprehensive basic tools such as backup and restore options, and it offers a scheduler to registered users. When reviewing this type of software, we really had to put it to the test. Many providers offer a similar feature set, but how accurate the scans are and what device drivers they offer varies. Each product also differs in both their security and customer service strengths. We compared DriverScanner to other driver update software, to device manufacturer scans, and to our device and driver version list; this review briefly explains our findings. DriverScanner provides the basic tools we were looking for, including a scan
scheduler for registered users. This PC driver update software can manage restore points, and it provides detailed information with its scan results, such as driver version and source information. Our test scans only produced one suggested driver update. It was an update we were looking for, which was for a dated device driver, but it missed the other old device drivers. We intentionally tested on a PC running Windows 7 with driver versions from as far back as 2006. The test machine also was loaded with numerous software programs and multiple printers; we really expected to see more than one scan result. Since Uniblue did not respond to our email queries, we don't know the number of driver files they have in their library or how often they update their driver database. Additionally, they do not post on their website the number of driver files they have available. We know from the scan results that it scans for device drivers, but we did not receive a list of software or peripheral drivers.
